New to this - first post, so hope this is correct.  'McGreevy' was wanting to trace Edward McGreevy's brother, James who married Mary Burns.  James & Mary are on the Police Station Census of the Inhabitants of Killyleagh 1891-1899  but by 1901 Census, Mary is a widow.  My great grandmother also Mary McGreevy, was the daughter of James and Mary.  Our family story is that Mary arrived Queensland Australia with an aunt and went to work for 'distant relations' named McKee at Emu Creek, in Esk area.  We believe she came with your Edward & Margaret McGreevy & their family and is the "Anne McGreevy' 19 years on the shipping list for the Roma.  Mary b abt 1863 married first a John Lawler and then his brother, James and lived in the same area, Ivory Creek in Esk Valley as Edward & Margaret.  Mary had a brother in America who used to write to her but have had no luck in tracing him as have no christian name.  Have found siblings for Mary - Jane 1866, James b 1868, Rose Ann b 1870 and Edward (no date).

Hi Sharyn

Welcome to Rootschat, you have definitely hit on the right family.  :) :) :) :)

I always wondered why on the shipping records she is Anne but later she is Mary? ??? ???

Would love to know more about this family.

So glad to hear from you.  :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Thanks so much for your reply.  One of Mary McGreevy's granddaughters who only passed away 18 months ago had written a small piece on Mary's story, so I can now definitely verify that she arrived in Australia with her uncle, Edward and his wife on the Roma.  She is the Anne (19 years) on the ship's records but we do not know if she was possibly 'Mary Anne'.
Margaret McGreevy's (nee McKee) parents were Thomas and Alice (nee McCann) McKee.  Mary went to work for McKees when she first arrived  who also lived in the Ivory Creek/Esk/Harlin area.

I believe Edward's age is definitely incorrect on the ship's records.  Have you had any success with any dates for Edward and his brothers, James, Patrick & Nicholas?

Tried to attach copy of page from ship's record but think I was unsuccessful.
I believe that it is necessary to have three posts before I can send a PM and I am still finding my way around the site.

Regards, Sharyn
