Am a bit puzzled as to this-
Edward McGreevy or McGreevey was born in 1830 in County Down and later married Margaret McKee. Margaret's parents were Thomas McKee and Alice McCann.
I have searched but can find no record of their marriage.
when earlier you said-
She married Edward McGreevy ... Wedding date is 23 January 1876 There is a reference to a St Cuthbert's Chapel in the records as the place of marriage.

Free BMD lists the marriage in Jan./Mar.1876 quarter in Lanchester district- Margaret McKee and Edward McGreerey. (I simply searched for a marriage of Margaret McKee to an Edward and found it).

The Note simply says- 02/09/2006    The following correction has been suggested: Surname: McGreevey . The source given for this is: Surname of descendants in Australia. What looks like "r" in the surname, is actually a "v".

James McGreevy
« Reply #14 on: Monday 27 September 10 02:21 BST (UK) »

Hi

I am hoping that someone can shed light on James McGreevy who was the father of Edward McGreevy. Edward McGreevy was born in 1830. He is said to have  had brothers.

Can anyone help me find James wife and Edward's siblings The last name could be MGreevey or McGreerey

Thank you

I've merged your latest McGreevy post with one of your existing thread to cut down on confusion wth posts on Australia, U.S., etc. for this family,

It looks as though you already have the name of James McGreevy's wife?
Edward McGreevy's parents were James McGreevy who married Sarah Orr on 8th February 1827 at Down Patrick, County Down, Ireland. He was deceased at the time of Edward’s marriage in 1876.

And a possible relative, Ann, is mentioned on the Australian thread?
She married for the first time in 1897 RichmondGeorge toMCGREEVY ANNE and George died in 1913.
She married for the second time in 1919 RICHMOND,ANNE to Lawlor,Martin.
She died in 1955 ANNE LAWLOR father James McGreevy mother Elizabeth McLaughlan.

And in the U.S. thread you have a John McGreevy who might have been James  ???
James McGreevy would have been born around 1830 in Ireland, possibly County Down.
I found two of Edward's sons born in Durham, James and Edward.
This is the information I received that I am trying to verify that John is Edwards brother
John married 6 November 1852 in NYS to Mary Daly born 1830 Ennis Count Clare father Patrick Daly. John died 29 October 1906 and Mary 29 January 1908.  They were both buried Pine Hill Cemetery Buffalo New York.

Also-
All I know for fact is that Edward McGreevy who married Margaret McKee was supposed to have had three brothers, James, Nicholas and Patrick. Edward settled in Australia in 1882 arriving on the Roma
He married Margaret McKee on 22nd January 1876 in England
He had a brother James but what I found was that the information given to me by another person had James McGreevy now John McGreevy in America around 1887. Perhaps a John McGreevy did go to America but that does make him Edward's brother.
