Could be right robbie we will keep at it and hopefully get a breakthrough. I have thought that, Paterson,  came from
a gran or grandfather on the mccartney side.

So to make it clear, I believe that Haxehead was actaully in Muirkirk and not Douglas.  Hazelhead (or as you thought that Hazelhead was actaully Haxehead) in Douglas has no historical reference to it in Douglas Parish and that    only    Haxehead is referred to in the Muirkirk parish records and is not referred to as in Douglas parish. I am working on Haxehead (which could be a place called Hawkshead?) and is a place in Muirkirk parish and may be in the Register of Saines or other historical doument pertaining to Muirkirk parish.
