I'm looking for Hugh Letson possibly died Ballymena 1880. His daughter Elizabeth married Michael McKeown in Ballymena 1853. Elizabeth is on the US census 1850 (irish born)  and returned to Ireland to marry. I can't find where Hugh was born.... or his wife's name. ;D ;D ;D

Any help would be great, I know its not a common name so that might help.

There's 35 Letson entries in the 1901 Irish census for Co Antrim (which includes Ballymena & Ballymoney).

www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/?then

None for Ballymoney. 1 family in Ballymena (33 Princess St) who are Brethren (ie often referred to incorrectly as Plymouth Brethren). Most other Letsons are Presbyterian, with a few Church of Ireland and a small number of RC.

So you might be looking for a Brethren burial site. I am not sure what their burial arrangements are. They might possibly be in the COI graveyard or in a municipal one.

I thought that the marrige record might have narrowed down the religion but the ceremony was performed in Ballymena Civil Registrars Office on 19 Apr 1893.

Submitted, not extracted, record so would need to be verified. However, since it follows typical LDS 'formula for calculating ages (husban 4 years older than wife, wife age 21 at marriage) I would be very cautious.

Hugh Letson who had been in the army was the brother of Alexander Letson also ex army and both married English girls. 1901 census has Hugh living with his niece Harriett McMillen nee Letson (my Great grandmother). 1911 census living with 2nd wife East Bread Street Belfast.

The original poster said the Hugh Letson he was looking for died c1880 so the one you found in 1901 & 1911 census records could be a different one.
