I am looking for the birth of Catherine McLennan  b about 1831/33 in Knockbain, also her marriage to John Fraser about 1850.

Living in Knockbain 1861/1891

Thanks

The marriage is on the IGI - (if it's the same couple given the year)

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

In view of the date - you can check Scotlands People website and get both her parents names and mothers maiden name from the entry

Hello Carole,

Thank you for your reply.

I am not sure if it is the right couple as they had children from 1852 - 1868, but John was born in Urray.

I will look at Scotlands People but do not have an account at the moment

Hello Carole,

Yes that is the family.

The problem is that on family search is gives the children's parents as John Fraser and Catherine Johnston, which is not correct.

Catherine Johnston was my gt gt grandmother and she married William MacDonald in 1869.

So trying to sort out the families.

Hi Yvonne, I am also a direct descendant of Catherine Johnston and William MacDonald. I have had no luck at all with William, his marriage and death entries have different mother's names and him being born in Glenrinnes has flummoxed me entirely! Have you had any luck with them?

Scott1940/Yvonne was last on site in June 2016. They should hopefully receive an email alerting them to your post, though, if their email address is still current:

Scott, a bit of background on the MacLennan's generally, they were evicted from Strathconnon by the Balfour owners in the "Clearances!" same family as the Prime Minister!

You might be lucky & find Urray relatives amongst the tenants in Fairburn,
