I think you have the wrong John married to Jane Norfolk.

John and Jane married 30/05/1841 and had the children in my earlier post including John junior.

Robert's son John was only born 1840 so could not have married Jane. The marriage document in the Parish records gives John's father as Israel Howard.

If you have access to the 1871 census it shows the whole family living at Bridge Street.

I think it is a case of two many Johns! You have picked up one who seemed the right age to have a child born 1861.

A combination of the Parish records and the census would seem to prove the facts.

Hi Gary,

Yes your line is another Howard family in my tree.
I believe Fred  Jr (your grandad) had sisters Gladys and Grace.
Fred Sn married Ada Norris. Let me know if I am correct about these.
I have more information on the Beadle line. Emily's parents were John (c1819-1896) and Jane Beadle (nee Brunning)(c1820-1899) John was born in Halstead and was a shoemaker and Jane was born in Long Melford Suffolk. I have earlier information on the Beadle and Brunning families if you are interested.
Do you have any information about Edward Jr's mother as I cannot place an Edward Sn ?

Jane Brunning   ch   3rd September 1815 in Long Melford
   m   23rd February 1840 in Halstead, Essex
bu  16th May 1899 in Long Melford
Husband   John Beadle   b   1820 in Halstead
d   Mar* 1896 in Halstead District
Jane is the sister of my maternal grandmother's grandmother Caroline Brunning and I can stretch the Brunning FT back to 1700

Hi Tony,

Welcome to Roots chat.

I have Caroline and Jane's parents as Charles and Mary (nee Felton) and their grandparents as William and Mary (nee Cue?). Do you concur? If you do I would be interested to know if you have any details of Mary Felton's parentage.

Kind regards
Mike

Thanks Tony for the really useful information. It is amazing how young Hannah was when she married William (about 14 !) - I am not doubting you or the records as I have seen other similar instances recorded in that era.
