It always comes as a surprise how mobile people were in those days, doen't it?  But of course there was an extensive railway network from the 1830s onwards, which increased both geographic and social mobility.  My Suffolk ancestors generally stayed in the same place (or bounced between two villages) from 1541 onwards; however, my Durham ancestors (and my father was very proud of his northern heritage) appear to have come from Kent and London!
Suffolk: Pearl(e),  Garnham, Southgate, Blo(o)mfield,Grimwood/Grimwade,Josselyn/Gosling
Durham/Yorkshire: Sedgwick/Sidgwick, Shadforth
Ireland: Davis
Norway: Torreson/Torsen/Torrison

Suffolk Advertiser 9th December 1807
Yesterday Mr Isaac Templar, bricklayer of Rougham, was married to Mrs Cuthbert, of the same place, whose united ages amount to 140 years!

Isaac clearly liked being married! and he outlived them all.  Thank you so much Dave.  It makes it more and more likely he was the father of my Isaac Templar in Southwark given clearly Bricklaying was the family trade carried on.

Hi,

I have come across this after searching my family tree. I think my family is connected with William Templar - daughter - Phoebe Templer?
