To quote an earlier post "The barracks is one of the oldest in Europe, established shortly after the siege of Athlone in 1691.  Known as Victoria Barracks in the 19th century it was re-named Custume Barracks in 1922."

Major J. J. Adamson.
Mr Charles G Adamson, Auburn, Glasson, Athlone, has been notified officially of the death in India of his brother, Major J. J. G. Adamson, 119th Infantry, from Influenza on October 24th. The deceased gallant officer was on active service since the outbreak of the war and had seen considerable fighting and survived many trials to fall a victim, as the fight is almost won, to the world-wide epidemic.
