Ah jolly good  ;D

The word lunatic had a completely different meaning back then,maybe Reuben had what we would term as depression? Which meant that he would go into hospital from time to time. As you say he was still having kids with Jane,that's presuming he WAS their real dad of course.And it lists him with a job-he wouldn't been able to hold that down unless he was okay most of the time.

Shout if you need anymore help.

Carol  ;)

Well Carol there is something I don't understand..
I traced Rueben North age 7 back to 1871 to Charles Henry St., he was born Birmingham but his sister Sarah Jane North was born Coventry
Now on the 1860 census
Henry Charlesworth age 40 and his wife Sarah age 50 living Coventry
Sarah Jane North age 12 months Nurse Child ....
So what does that mean as I have not come across that before ?

I traced Jane Sanson's family back to 1840 to a place called Dunkirk Avening
So all in all a good result

After a bit more digging I found the North family in Coventry in the 1840's
John North and his three sons all well known to the police. Thomas married Eliza Bowyers in 1850 and they had a daughter Sarah Jane North who on the 1860 census is living with the Charlesworths at the age of 12 months and registered as a nurse child ........so I can only assume that the parents were unavalable so I think the riddle is solved

How interesting ;D

1851 Census Thomas and Eliza have a Ann Bowyer, Daughter age 7 with them also.
Ann BOWYER was Christened 14 October 1843, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwick to FRANCES ELIZA Bowyer.
(Source Familysearch Pilot)
This may help when trying to search further back for Eliza.

Thomas and Elizas Marriage is on there too;
13 October 1850, Coventry, Warwick
Thomas NORTH, Single, Father JOHN North
Eliza BOWYER, Single, Father WILLIAM Bowyer

Possible Christening;
Eliza Frances BOWYER, 09 January 1825, Britford, Wiltshire
To WILLIAM Bowyer and MARY

On the subject of Lunatic Asylums, my 2 x great grandmother died in one and the wording of her death certificate certainly makes me think she had a nervous breakdown or suffered from severe depression. What was lovely was finding her and her husband, together, in the churchyard of the town where they had lived all their lives, even though the asylum was many miles away. :)

Hi! Can you tell me anymore about these Norths & their police records? Thanks.
