I couldn't see a marriage for Joseph Snr to Martha.  THought probably that Joseph Jnr was Snr's son from his marriage to Caroline.  Snr left Caroline and set up home with Martha in Brighton?

Thank you both so much. I think it's time I stumped up the extra for Ancestry to get at the probate and baptismla records  :'(

Hello. Assuming we are talking of the same guy, there was a Henry Edward Lugard born in St Pancras Aug 4th 1898 to Frederick and Minnie Lugard. Frederick's father was Joseph Henry Lugard, born 1839 who, according to the 1861 census, is the nephew of another Joseph Henry Lugard, born 1806 (approx) in Dublin and who is the guy at the top of this chain of messages. This latter Henry Joseph Lugard is my great great grand father on my mother's side, that is my mother's mother had maiden name Lugard. As you can see from this chain of messages, there is some uncertainty around the Joseph Henry Lugards but this is the best I have achieved so far. Incidentally, the originator of this query started it on my behalf.
A Henry E Lugard married Daisy Frances Maney in Islington in June 1920. His father is quoted as Frederick, so likely the same person. Another record has a Henry E Lugard marrying a Louise Hues in Islington in Q4 1942. A Henry E Lugard is recorded as dying in Q3 1963 aged 64, so that could be right. Finally, a will for a Henry Edward Lugard who died in July 1963, so that also tallies, says he left his estate to his widow - Maria Louisa, possibly the former Miss Hues ??

Hi
We are talking about the same people. What i have is
Frederick married Minnie Louisa Cox
Henry born 1898 married Daisy Frances Maney 1920
Children
(1) Daisy E.G.Lugard born 1921 married  Bernard Joseph Murphy aka Brian Murphy 1939 though there is no decree nisi Daisy married Norman Eaton in 1955
(2) Minnie C. Lugard born 1923 married Albert C. Hughes 1943
(3) Henry Edward Lugard born 1925 married Louise Hues 1941
got Daisy died 1999 and Norman died 1996

My interest is that Bernard Joseph was my fathers brother, his real name was Barend Arnoldus De Bie born in Holland 1915.My fathers name was Hendrik Leondert De Bie born 1912.
Daisy was also a great friend of my mothers when they worked in the leather factory in the 1930's.

                   Regards
                         Ann

Ah! So it was Henry junior who married Louise Hues. Still looks like Henry senior remarried from the probate data. More work to do ! Thanks.
