Hello Bridget

Yes, I think there may be a common heritage for most of the posters here (happy to be proved wrong). Its a little tricky following without the aid of an actual tree admittedly, but it does seem so. What do the others think?

Not sure if anyone is still following. I think it is fantastic that we are finding out so much. There definitely is a link between us. I met both Billy and his sister Pat Abbey from Syracuse, NY as a child back in the 1969's. Billy would visit us from time to time and was great at handball. He always carried a ball in his pocket. I visited Pat and her husband, don't remember his name, with my mother around 1967.

Pat Abbey from syracuse, ny, was my mother. I think your father was my mom's godfather.  You described billy perfectly! He loved handball and played at the police station and with the Bishop of Syracuse weekly.  I miss them all so much. Peggy is the only living sibling, now.

Hi Bridget, I am not sure if you knew this, but your mother is my godmother. This year the Killruane MacDonagh GAA honored my father in their yearbook. It was beautifully written and included photos of him in Ireland as well as NY. They even included words to a song that included a verse about my father's hurling.

Hello, I have been reading this thread.
Tom Stapleton had a music shop in Roscrea, is he related to you? Closed about 2010.
Killruane, my Uncle played for them he was born in 1929.
My cousins play in the ladies team now.
The Kennedy family from Killruane, they had a daughter called Helena, did she marry a guy called McLean?
Edward Kennedy lived in Coolnamuna, his daughter Margaret was my Great Grandmother. (Not Coolnamuna House, but the Cottage up the lane past the old Forge)
His father was Martin, he lived in Liskinlahan, another son Patrick lived in Derrinleigh (know to us as Bogside Cloughkeating)
3 of Patrick's children went to Australia, I am in touch with them.
If you knew Nan Kennedy born about 1920 live on the outskirts of Borrisokane, please let me know.

Dear friends, I am so sorry, but I have no idea what happened and I just got diverted by the usual rubbish of daily life ... if anyone is still connected to this thread it would be lovely to try and clarify the links to the Kennedy/Stapleton/Leamy family tree. Sadly I am no genealogist but I've tried to connect the dots of the links here and attached a very rough rudimentary tree ... please have a look and let me know corrections, and I certainly won't be offended if someone can make a better job of the tree. here is hoping ...
