Are you sure Jean was born c 1761 as she would be 46 when she married John Gray, 31 July 1807, Renfrew, Renfrew, Scotland?

Or is this another Couple with same names?

Not sure on the birthdate but children were Archibald born 1781-1864 and Mary born 1791 married an Orr? I am definite about the children but only sure about the John Gray.  The Jean Ewing is an informed guess only based on information I have been given which may be wrong.  This is what I definitely know about Archibald. Birth ABT JULY 1781 • Middle church, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Death 05/06/1864 • 15 Canal Street, Renfrewshire, Scotland.  Hit a brick wall at that stage!

Sorry cant find anything with my resources to back up info that Mary/Archibalds Parents were Hohn Gray/Jean Ewing

In 1871 Mary Orr is living with her son John in Kilfinan, Argyll (states born Ireland) where she died the following year.   Her death is on SP:

Mary Orr 84, widow of James Orr, Sergeant Major, died 14/12/1871 Kilfinan, Argyll - parents John Gray, soldier (deceased) and Janet Gray, nee Turner (deceased).   Cause of death - general weakness 3 years.   Informant was William Orr, grandson.

So, John Gray was in the army and explains how daughter Mary was born in Ireland when Archibald himself was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

Whilst I cannot find a baptism for Archibald Gray on familysearch I did find 3 more children baptised in Paisley, parents John Gray and Janet Turner - have just put the year but full birth/baptism dates on familysearch:

Thanks you that helps a million!  Have had DNA done and nearly 50% Irish and haven't been able to find a connection either side of family so that probably explains it (maybe).  I really appreciate all the help.  Many thanks
