RACHINGER - Ellingen Germany
« on: Sunday 14 November 10 05:38 GMT (UK) »
I am researching my ancestor Giullaume Rachinger who came from Ellingen in the District of Mittlefranken Germany. (near Ansbach and Nurnberg)
Does anyone know of any research or archive centres who may be able to help me with this research.
I am planning a trip to this area at some stage and wonder about churches cemeteries and records available.

In which era did this chap live?

His forename was clearly French.

Sorry about the vague msg.
Guillaume was born around 1828 son of John Adam Rachinger and Maria nee Rener/Remer.

Were they Catholic or Protestant? Ellingen has both churches. Look on the city's website:

Parish records from the early 19th century have probably been deposited at a central church archive. The one for the Protestant registers is in Nuernberg.

I haven't read through this page, but it should be of use to you. http://www.kahlgrund-genealogie.de/location.html
