Hi, can you let me know how you get on,  my step fathers name is Burke, would be interested if there is a connection.

Think his father was Thomas Rex Burke and his Mother was Patricia.

Hi Julian,

Not being familiar with research in Cavan I had a look on the 'usual suspects' sites.

Cavan seems to be in the parish of Urney & Annagelliffe in the diocese of Kilmore. NLI have marriage records going back to July 19, 1812. See http://www.kilmorediocese.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=13&Itemid=35
and
http://www.nli.ie/en/parish-register.aspx

IFHF shows a birth for Anne McDonald in 1827 but no marriage for Denis and Mary. See http://cavan.brsgenealogy.com/index.php

The usual practice was for the marriage to take place in the bride's parish so maybe Mary was from outside Cavan?

Maybe if you ask the moderator to move your post to the Cavan board someone with better local knowledge will be able to help.

Good luck with your research.

Dara.
