Hi Jan

Indeed this could be the 1801 census entry for Gunder son of Erick. If it is - it takes back my wife's Norwegian ancestors to the late 1700s.

What is the occupation of Coffardie styrmand ?

I am very pleased and grateful for the help shown.

Kind Regards

Ed

Hi again!

..and Gunder's christening is here in the original online parish register:
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7835&idx_id=7835&uid=ny&idx_side=-63 (#4 from top on the right page)

Spelt "Gunner" the very first time, born Aug 20, 1800 in Kragerø, Telemark & christened Sept 20, 1800 the same place.

But I am struggeling a bit with "Coffardie Styrmand", Erick was an officer on an official? (large) ship carrying a Coffardie Flag?, I think....

could be more details to find here....

Jan, Norway.

Using google the nearest I could find was Helmsman on a merchant ship?

A big thank you for this information as the age and location appears to be right and Gunder went on to work on ships.

On the baptism record is Annes name Anne Margeritta ??? Neils?

I don't think you've copied the link correctly, but I'll have a look!

Im about to start a 100 mile trip home from work now so will be back later this afternoon.

Yes,

You've found her: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7835&idx_id=7835&uid=ny&idx_side=-60

Girl Ranney, christened Feb 28, 1798 to Parents Erich and Anna.

The rest are her Godparents, I am struggeling a bit, but I think it is: Niels Thorsens Rosun? Berthe Christensd. Torhild Henriksen? Gunner Pedersen, Jens Thorsen

Godparents sometimes provide valuable information, they are often uncles and aunts!
