MARKEY family of Wagga Wagga and Hay, NSW

Hi all. The MARKEY family of Somerset, England, arrived in Adelaide aboard Sir Thomas Gresham in 1854. some of the family remained in South Australia, others migrated to NSW. I'm interested in the family of James MARKEY (b. 1837 in Milborne Port, Somerset). His first wife was Mary Anne SMYTHE nee RICHARDSON, they married 17 April 1861 at Wagga Wagga, NSW, and had kids:
- twins Edward John & William James b. 17 May 1862 at Wagga Wagga
- Edwin Allen b. 1864 (d. ~1881)
- Eliza A. b. 1866 (d. 1867)

Mary Anne died in 1873. James remarried in 1874 and relocated to Qld in 1875 where he had several more children. I beleive his oldest boys remained in NSW, possibly staying with an uncle in Hay. Is there any further BDM's available on the children listed above?

I wonder if this is the death of William:

Can't see a death in NSW for Edward.

William died suddenly at a hotel in Wagga.  He was living in South Australia and had come to Wagga to meet with his critically ill brother regarding the estate of their father.  His death is mentioned in a number of newspapers.

The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842-1954) (about) < Wednesday 7 May 1924 > 

There was a fire in August 1870 in the Criterion Hotel Wagga which "Mr Markey" had just purchased. And another fire (in which a man died) in Urana in January 1871 destroyed the Free Trade stores and damaged the Criterion Hotel.  (One might draw conclusions  but one of the accounts is very clear that Mr Markey had no insurance  )

Looks like the marriage of James's eldest son John Edward Markey in 1894 at Adelaide.

James at that time was living at "Foxwood" Domville in Queensland.

Note the term Esq is used to describe James Markey which usually represented a social standing.

No, two different brothers. If since found out that Edwin Allen MARKEY went missing in bushland near Millmerran in 1881, the same year his half-brother Llewellyn died.

I do have another MARKEY query. I've today read a family history that states that James MARKEY's first son by his second wife, Mary THOMAS, was registered as Joseph Cave MARKEY when born in 1875 at Boondandilla, Qld, but was baptised as Arthur Edward MARKEY four years later.

This seems a little odd. Are Joseph Cave MARKEY & Arthur Edward MARKEY one and the same, or are they brothers? It should be noted that twins are not unusual in the the MARKEY family.
