Joseph Neely
« on: Saturday 20 November 10 16:22 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find information on my Gr Gr Grandfather Joseph Neely. The only information i have is that he had a son Joseph who was born circa 1838,born County Londonderry, married Elizabeth Wright in 1862. He was married in the First Presbyterian church Londonderry, his occupation was cabinet/coffin maker Can you advise how to get back to the previous generation.

Joseph Neely's marriage to Elizabeth Wright is recorded in Vol 7 p 275 of the 1862 Londonderry marriage records. You can get a copy from the local register office, GRO in Belfast or GRO in Roscommon. Personally I use GRO Roscommon. www.groireland.ie/  Order a photocopy, and it should cost €4. Takes about 10 to 14 days. The marriage cert will give you the father's names, their addresses and this should help you get back a further generation.

Thank you Andrew for your contact, unfortunately I don't have much further information, the Neely family is so large that I put it on hold for a while and followed another branch of the family. I am descended from Jane, Joseph and Elizabeth's daughter, how are you related ?. I would be glad to swap any info that we might have.

Regards Daisy
