Rees Morgan(s) Lampeter

I'm trying to trace  my great-grandfather Rees Morgan(s) b.1861. In his census returns he always stated that he was born in Lampeter, Cards. He moved to Llandeilo and became a tailor, marrying Mary Price. On his wedding certificate his father was down as being Rees Morgan also, a farmer. I've tried to get birth certificates from the Lampeter RO's but they can't find any registration. I'd appreciate it, if anyone could help.

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874/75 so prior to then - lots of births went unregistered

The 1881 has Rees Morgan b Lampeter but 1863 and in lodgings in Llandilofawr

There is no 1861/1871 entry for him with a father Rees.  The only Rees Morgans b Lampeter had a father Evan

I strongly suspect he was illegitimate

I've managed to track Rees through the census returns from 1881 and he always stated he was born in Lampeter. I only knew of his father's name through the entry on the wedding certificate. It's almost impossible to find a father and son named Rees Morgan(s) of that time, which was the reason that I once went on the wrong track, and ended up having them coming from Llangyfelach. But thanks for the interest.
