Needham Family

Hi,

I have just started my husbands tree. 

I am looking for the marriage of Patrick Needham b abt 1843, Co. Mayo., to Ellen (?) b abt 1842, Co Mayo. ( His mother was Sarah, b abt 1811. )  I'm not sure if they would have married in Ireland or Liverpool.

They had a daughter, Mary b 1869, Liverpool. She married Patrick Maguire 1891, Liverpool.

Any help with this family, especially the Irish bit     would be great.

Full civil registration started in Ireland in 1864 - so a marriage for Patrick and Ellen should be included if after that date. In addition non-Catholic marriages were registered from 1845.

It might be an idea to start by searching for a birth cert for their daughter Mary to establish Ellen's maiden name as this will help a search for the marriage.

I'm new on rootschat so bear with this note. I too am looking for a Needham connection in Cty Mayo. My grandmother was from Louisburg DOB about 1870's; died in Massachusetts @1946. Her first name was Sarah; her daughter (my father's sister) was also named Sarah. Grandma's dad was Peter Needham. I don't know why (because I did not document properly) but her family may have come into Cty Mayo from Leichesshire, Eng @1850's.  I visited the gravesite of Peter Needham near Murrisk at the old monastery at the foot of Crough Patrick -- a fantastic place. Cheers!
