If anyone is interested in more recent information it would probably be best they contact you offline by PM (personal message) since Rootschat policy does not allow posting details of possibly living people.

Your post mentioned 'early 1920s' so some of the people might still be alive which is why I suggested using PM.

Hi Shellback

I'm interested in your reference to Katie Clowery. I have a great Aunt by this name b1892 (nee Dalton) who married in 1913 and died in 1925. I know she resided in Barrack St at date of death but that's all. Do you have any more details?

At the bottom of the Lane opposite the Graveyard I remember from the late 1960's an old lady by the name of "Fortune" living in a small rather run down cottage. She's no longer alive but do you know anything of her history?

Attached are the names of the residents in the area as at 1936.
Dalton: Wexford Town/Ireland
Curran: Ballyvaloo/Blackwater/Co Wexford/Ireland
Clowery/Farrell: Wexford Town/Ireland
Flood: Enniscorthy & Wexford/Ireland
Ormand/Kirwan: Blackwater/Co Wexford/Ireland
Shortman: Bristol/Westbury-on-Trym/Manchester
Trull: Uley/Dursley/Glos
Cross: Dursley/Glos
Hazard: Bristol/Manchester

Hi Shorts , The lady in question was Mrs. Fortune . Just before her cottage fell in she built a small house in her back garden and lived there until she passed away. She was a well spoken lady and was a little eccentric . Iremember when she reared calfs and brought them for walks On a leash like they were dogs!.
The lists of residents you put up shows many of the families from my list.None of my lot there though. Most of the people in what was then the new St. Magdalen's houses I remember even though it was long before my time.

Hi Shellback

I am interested in your Fardy reference at No12.

My Fardy’s are from Blackhall and Wilkinstown, Glynn, Killurin, County Wexford. I have details of Fardy relations who had moved into Wexford Town.

In 1879 James Fardy of Wexford Town sailed to his brother Miley in America.

In you post you have “No 12. The Miss Fardys ( As the name suggests, originally from the Hook area)”

Do you know that they were from the Hook area, or are you just assuming they were?

I would be interested in any help and advice you can give me or any Fardy information you have.

Mogue

Hi Mogue, the two Miss Fardys were from the Hook area for sure. Iam not at home at the moment but Iwill check out what few details I have of them as soon as Iget back and will let you know. MNot sure but I think you will find them mentioned in the 1911 census.
