I have a lot of birth, death certificates based on a Peter Clowry/Clowery and his descendentsfrom Maudlinstown, Wexford in the mid 1850s. They seemed to be based their until after 1900's. If anyone would like specific information, please contact me on *.

I'm looking for Dora Radford(nee Devereux) She was born in 1885 and died in 1974. I found her living with her family in 96 The Faythe in the 1901 census. She then moved to King St (1911) census. She lived in 172 The Faythe when she returned there. I am her grandson. I have information about the Faythe Devereux's that lived in 96 The Faythe in 1901 if anyone is interested.

*** Hello I am Dora Devereux 's grand daughter - my mother was Margaret Roche ***

Dora Devereux married Aidan Roche on July 24th 1911 followed by Patrick Radford on Jan 13th 1918.
Both marriages are recorded in the Bride Street Church marriage register.

I recall some of that family but the older ones have passed on and the younger ones have left the area . As a matter of interest ,Laurence Butler was master of the Billow in 1855 . Ambrose Butler master of Henry lost on the Barrells Rocks Wexford, in1874 ,Laurence Butler on the Princess, no date, John Butler on the Vivid in 1864 . It is almost certain that they came from the Faythe area of Wexford town and it is also certain that they were related .

Thanks for your reply I found that Catherine Hewson, who married Ambrose Butler in 1873,  was the daughter of Peter Hewson, who was also a sea captain, lived in Maudlintown the Butlers and Hewsons lived a few houses apart.

I have the death certificate and Masters certificate for Laurence Butler who died in the Faythe in 1867 his death certificate states he was a Bachelor so I am still looking for a  Laurence Butler who had died before 1873 but was the father of Ambrose Butler born 1839.

Hi Shellback,

Thanks for the very interesting info on people living in Maudlintown in the early 20s.

Do you, or anyone who reads this, know anything about Ellen Josephine Byrne who was born on March 6, 1919 in Maudlintown? Her parents were John Byrne, a labourer, and Mary Byrne, formerly Murphy.

Also present at the birth was Kate Walsh, who also lived in Maudlintown.

I'd be grateful for any information about them all,

John Byrne and Mary Byrne formerly Murphy were my grand parents.  Their son Raymond was my Father.  Kate Walsh (she lived to be almost 100) was my great aunt, Mary's sister.  Both of my grand parents died in 1923.  If you want more information please email me    jack.jackband@gmail.com
