Hi, Just wondering if anyone cud help me as regards a house in Ladywell, a period house, up a lane opposite the water garden. It is the house on the right.  It is boarded up, in disrepair. Cud anyone tell me the name of the house and the history of the house.

Thank you :)

Hi Tracey8 im orginally from thomastown i know that the Hoynes family lived the for many years i think until quiet recently.

If that's the house i think it is (on the right as you drive up that lane, and has a large lawn in front of it, and overlooking the town, it's called "Abbey View") it has been vacant for a few years and the last owner was the Brennan family from Dungarvan, Co.Kilkenny (who inherited from Paddy Kennedy who owned and lived in it for a long time) and it was sold a few years ago and hasn't been lived in since!
It was put up for sale again by the new owners a couple of times but was never sold as far as i know!
Is that any help?

Hi, I know the house you mean.I was born and raised in Thomastown. I often delivered groceries to that house as a shop boy. A family by the name of Kennedy lived there at that time. I didn't know the house was boarded up as I pass by that way once a week. As far as I am aware a daughter of that family still owns the property, but dont know her marriage name and I thought she and her husband still lived there. Maybe she built a new house. A family named Glendon lived there before Kennedy's .
There is a very large farm attached to that house. I will make some enquiries tomorrow and let you know how I get on.
                                               Regards. jakel

Hi, I am very interested in the house.  I am related to James Kennedy who lived in the Thomastown vicinity in the mid 1800's.  As far as I know his was the main Kennedy family in Thomastown or in Pleberstown.
