The Children of Daniel McBride SCOTT

Hope someone can solve the mystery of Lily Scott.
Daniel McBride Scott married Alice Upton in 1883. They had 5 children - all born in Victoria except for Martha - she was born in Temora.....

Martha (b: 1884),
Agnus (b: 1885),
Robert (b: 1888)
Helena (b: 1890)
Alice (b: 1891)

I recently found a photo of Martha with a young lady similar in age. They were both dressed the same. On the back was written - dated Sydney 1907....

Obviously Martha was sending her sister the photo of the two of them.
But.....who is Lily???
I can't find any birth, marriage or death for her.
Hope someone can help

Could it be a sister-in-law. I have a few incidences of this. Who did Angus and Robert marry, either of them a Lily?

Hi Annie,
Thank you for your reply.
Sadly, Robert, Helena and Alice died as babes, and Agnes (sorry, my fault, not Angus) did not marry, she became an Officer in the Salvation Army.
I'm really at a dead end here...

Do you have the death cert for either of the parents, that should show the children?

That is the other mystery I was going to persue....

I have tried for years to find the deaths of Alice and Daniel........no luck there either.
I only have the death cert for Martha, which confirms the father and mother.

If Alice Upton was a widow she might have brought older children, including Lily, to this marriage. Her childbearing extends over seven years which is short for the times so she might be an older woman. Do you have the marriage certificate? - it would also have names for parents of Alice and Daniel, which would assist in locating their deaths.

Perhaps you have seen it already.

THORNBURN  Robert Newton Scott  died 2/12/1888

So your  two little girls are with this  person.

Looking a little further at this burial group, here is the death of
ROBERT NEWTON SCOTT THORNBURN

So we have the additional  surname name THORNBURN being applied in 1888.
