Mcguires again
« on: Wednesday 13 April 05 09:57 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,
would someone be able to help me with a lookup. My Gt granfather Patrick Mcguire was born in Linlithgow around 1880. His parents were James and Alice. I have the street details 167 High Street Linlithgow from the 1881 census. Living their was James Mcguire head aged 29 Shoemaker born Ireland
Alice   Mcguire wife aged 26 born linlithgow
Mary Gaffney( Mcguire)  stepdaughter aged 4 born Linlithgow
Patrick Mcguire son aged 1 born Linlithgow
there was also two boarders .
I have details after this date but none before. I beleive Alice s maiden name was Quinn or Queen, not gaffney like the stepdaughter.
I have no idea where James came from in Ireland or any details for Alice.I,m not sure where to go on this line or what I want looking up, any ideas or look ups would be appriciated. Thanks everyone regards Michael.

Hi Mike

My Shawcross ancestors came from Irlam and came to Gorton between 1825-28, some later lived in Openshaw. I also have a Shawcross Wigley marriage.

Do you think there may be a connection?

Steve
