Honorah Dwyer married Francis Hayes, circa 1872, Freemount area , N.E. Cork. The Dwyer family farmed in the townland of Knockough. The Hayes family farmed in Tullylease Parish. Honorah  & Francis ran a public house and store in Freemount. They had 9 Children.

Honorah Dwyer had brothers Thomas & David Dwyer.

Francis had a sister Brigid who married William Couch/Cooch in 1868. They had 5/6 children.

I am a descendant of Honoria & Francis and am trying to trace other descendants.

Any information gratefully received.

Hi!
Don't know if you got my previous reply.
I think William Couch was my Great,  great Grandfather and one of his sons was Richard Couch and my Grandfather was named Richard Couch also. Born 1898.
My mum was Brigid Couch and grew up in the South side of Cork.
The Couch family originated from Cornwall, where 3 brothers out of 6 settled there. Why I don'the know?
They had a successful bed making factory which was gambled and drank away, leading to poverty.
My grandmother was a Galvin and married Richard Couch Jnr.
She was a first cousin of the playwright and poet Paddy Galvin.
The brothers weRe apparently all Presbertarians, but one brother fell in love with a Catholic women in Cork which led to the start of our family.
Hope all this helps?
Do reply. X

Hi,
Just picked up your info - only a year late - apologies!!
Have come across "Couch"s in Cornwall, but can't find a connection.
You state "South Side of Cork", all my family are definitely "North?/North West Cork"!
I'll have to do some investigation!!
I'll be in touch,
Take Care,
TB
