There are several possible reasons why you are not finding Isabella's siblings-
1) not baptised in same church
2) baptism in same church not recorded (a common occurance in early records)
3) church records incomplete in database
4) church records incomplete in register

I can't get into Aghadowey's link from 2008!
Has someone got a web address for Armagh Ancestry?

Hi Aghadowey,

Thanks for your reply. Hmm so guessing that if any of those things occured then we basically have very little chance of finding information on the siblings??

I did a bit more research last night and found a 1798 birth of a Margaret Durkan in Co Armagh, 1796 birth Thomas Harrold Co Limerick and a 1828 Margaret Harrold in Co Limerick. So next time I'm up on there I'll have to look into those ones.

Thanks

Limerick is nowhere near Armagh so I'm wondering if you are just grasping at straws here trying to find anyone  :-\

Yeah that was in the back of my mind too.

That's the only Thomas Harrold I can find, so our problem is that we are going to have to get the information so that I can weed out the no's from the possible's.

A lovely lady has been getting information on the family in Victoria, AUS which included information on Thomas's death. There is a death for a Thomas Herold aged 67 years whose birthplace is TYRO.  That is the only death in the Geelong area in 1855, but from his gravestone it states he was 61 years old, and mentions being a son of Armagh! So this is where we presumed he was born in Armagh, but thinking now it may not be the case. He might have been born elsewhere, but grew up around Armagh.

This family is doing my head in  :o - there is nothing simple with anything we do in researching them. Including have no idea how they came to Aust, as can't find them on any immigration documents. Even trying to get his death cert - system says there is no record of his death, but a gravestone.

remember that RootsIreland does not have records for all of Ireland and in addition not all parishes have records back to the time you are looking for..
