Marguerite was born in Paris, it seems, as well as Leopold. I don't know if Jeannette was French by birth or marriage.

Anyway, I see banns in Paris:
Leopold Elios - Jeannette Langner
Nov 1880, 8e arrondissement

Bit of a long shot but it would match them being married 14 years on the 1895 census.

I'll see if I can find the details at the Paris archives site a little later if nobody has done it by then.

sounds even more interesting!

The Pinto family had Langner family connections.

I've already got a Jeanette Langner, born 1860, as a niece to a lady called Rosetta De Sola who married a Pinto in 1848.

I wonder if she's the same woman?!   (and "my" Jeanette's brother's middle name was Berthold - same as this Jeanette's eldest son).

Just had a look and it gives Jeanette's parents as Julius David Langner and Stella De Sola (Rosetta's sister)....so she is definitely the Langner that I already have.  ;D

mind you if her husband was Leonard Elia(o)s - where does the Orsay bit come in?!

It's Leopold Elias on the actual marriage cert. Leopold Elias, employed in a bank, born 4 Jan 1857 in Paris, residing in Paris at his parents' home 185 faubourg St Honoré, son of Aron Elias and Fanny Levy
Jeannette Langner, born 15 July 1860 in London, minor daughter of Julius David Langner (hat manufacturer) and Stella de Sola.
Among the witnesses, Leopold's brother Lionel Elias and Jeannette's brother Berthold David Langner

No mention of d'Orsay
