Happy New Year to you all.

Does anyone have any recollections or old pictures of Notre Dame Convent in Abington Street Northampton as my mother attended there between 1935-1941

She also went to the Junior school in Park Ave Northampton that would have been about 1930-1935 any recollections or old pictures for this also please.

Hi All.

Happy New Year also.  :)

Ridgeback there was a special supplement in the Northampton
Independent about the Notre Dame quite a few years ago.

There was another topic here about the farm attached to it.

I will try and find it.

I remember them demolishing it, it was such a majestic building.

Gosh it was a long time ago.  :)

Sometimes I can not remember something from 10 minutes ago.

My mum was a pupil at the school about 1946 and the school was based where the Britannia is now.

Today we had a piece of post delivered by Royal Mail and it looks as though it was originally sent many years ago to a Kate Cooke at 59 Abington Street. Possible delayed in the post for 30-40 years !

Can anyone shed any light on who this may have been, likely a Nun,Head Teacher ?

Hi Richard
Thanks for the help and useful information.

I'm not on Facebook, however i am fascinated by this Picture Postcard that arrived by post today from India (We think), to the lady Kate Cooke mentioned above, and where has it been all these years to just turn up now !.

Hi Ridgeback

I certainly do have memories of Notre Dame High School. Absolutely loved it there. Went when I was 8 years old, did my 11 plus there and chose to go to the senior school where I stayed for 5 years until I went Jersey, aged almost 14. Still have all my school reports and very strong memories of the nuns.
Found this reference because I suddenly decided to google map Kettering Road where I lived and found that the launderette opposite the old racecourse is still there and even more amazing that the Picturedrome is still there. 9d to get in and could watch the programme round and round again. Saw the King and I at least 5 times!!!
Unfortunately have no photographs, but lots of memories.
Kate
PS why do you call yourself Ridgeback? don't tell me you have them as well. I have a bundle of them!!
