Hello Jean,
And a Happy new year. We've been distracted by the NSW high heat and fires near us.
I've seen a copy of a death entry sent by a cousin,= My Agnes Farquar McHardie was buried in Johnshaven cemetery.
As the cert copy said "single"  I'm not certain if her huband
William McHardie  was buried in same cemetery? (married in Brechin)
Her parents Alexr Farquhar and wife Elizabeth lived in Inverkeilor. (where Agnes was born) .I'd be keen to find them too,  as I've been looking for Alexr's details for years. (parents, birthplace etc, I have their (A.& E.'s) marriage entry, 22 July 1786;- in Inverkeilor, unfortunately it doesnt give anything like that))
They would be likely to be buried in the Inverkeilor cemetery-1820-1840?
:) many thanks,    Gloria in Australia.

No luck Gloria I'm afraid,

To be honest I didn't expect to find anything in Johnshaven as the cemetery there is relatively new, the earliest burials seem to be around 1900.

I checked Benholm for you, but no luck there either, I didn't see any markers for McHardie at all. Quite a lot of the markers are worn and damaged, so it is possible that her marker could be one of these. My hunch though is that she will be buried in Inverkeilor. We pass that way sometimes and will try to remember to take a look for you.

Sorry
Jean

Jim,

I was in the kirkyard today and remember seeing marker/s for Young, Bessie seems to ring a bell. If you let me have details I can check for you.

Jim.

I can't see any Young gravestones in Benholm.
There are quite a few in Johnshaven but none that match yours. I have attached a photo of a gravestone with a McFarlane/Young inscription, wondered if it could be connected? There was another side by side, which I have attached on a seperate message.

Yes, Jean, John McFarlane would be my great-uncle.

Great photos by the way!

The Youngs and McFarlanes come together in my grandmother who, coincidentally, shares the same name as her neice on your second gravestone - Roberta G McFarlane.

The Mcfarlanes in my direct line are:

James  1864-1953
James  1832-1911
James  1800-1871

Thank you.
Jim
