Totally puzzled by this lady.  Think her father was John Libeau.

Rose Ethel or Ethel Anne she was sometimes known, married a Herbert Thomas Clements abt 1912 who happened to be the Mayor of Otahuhu.  He died in London a day before coming home to New Zealand, but not certain on the date, it will be after her death date of 1953, and I think he remarried.
It would be nice to make contact with any relations of hers to sort out what really happened.

Yes there was a number of Hall's living in Pigeon Bay in the mid to late 1800's.  I wonder if she had Ethel out of wed-lock to John Lyall then married a Hall?

Brilliant title Althea and admirable to see such willing help as always  :)

...hopefully a helpful suggestion though, that the thread will probably get too messy to follow  :-\ if the requests aren't put up as separate topics?

 :) mare

Suzy

The IGI (@ FamilySearch), has the following birth entry :

LIBEAU - Amelia

Born :     1862
At:    Akaroa

Parents:   Joseph LIBEAU & Mary Ann HEDGEMAN

It seems a very good match for Amelia HALL (also born circa 1862).
