The Roman Catholic Church, located 400m from the village on the Virginia Road (R194), is named in memory of its patron Saint Kilian. The Church of Ireland Anglican Church is called "Teampeall Ceallaigh" and is located further along the same road, approx 600m.

Townlands, Parishes, etc. Counties are made up of parishes and parishes are made up of a group of townlands. If you are doing any research in Ireland these divisions become extremely important.

Dictionary of Ulster Biography - list of Co. Cavan people- just search with Cavan as location

1641 Depositions- many Cavan people listed

Co. Cavan Roll of Honour- "Details of the people who died from County Cavan in WWI will be included in the publication. The Roll will be available in libraries throughout the County on completion. A CD version of the Roll will also be available on completion. The database is still being compiled, so please feel free to browse it and contact us with any more information."

St Joseph's Orphanage & Industrial School was run by the enclosed order of Poor Clare nuns in Main Street, Cavan. "The Cavan Fire" which took place there more than sixty years ago claimed the lives of more than thirty five orphans.

Killeshandra schools lists (1826- )

Royal School, Cavan: "The Royal School Cavan is one of the Ulster Royal Schools which where founded during the reign of James 1, at the time of the Ulster Plantation. The first Headmaster was John Robinson who was appointed on the 5th. Of October 1611. The School has an unbroken educational tradition in County Cavan since then, becoming the country's second co-educational boarding school in 1924."
