Herbert Monkman: Soldier 1902
« on: Sunday 16 January 11 20:47 GMT (UK) »
I have the army paper for a Herbert Monkman who joined the army in Leeds in September, 1902 at the age of 18.

He joined the Royal Field Artillery and was discharged in 1920.

They were attached to my relatives papers of Harry Monkman by mistake.
Available to any family member as necessary  :)

I have just found out that you need to have a minimum of 3 postings to this website before you can send me a "private message" with your normal email address.

I think you have only posted once to date.

Once you are able to send me your email address I will be able to send you the information requested.

Best regards,
Tony F

Hi Tony
I wondered if you still had the paperwork for Herbert Monkman or if you sent the papers to the lady that contacted you.  He was my great uncle and actually died without children before I was born.  He ran away from his stepmother and lied about his age in order to join the army.  He was only 14!  He survived the Boer war and also WW1 and died an old man, happily married to my gran's sister.  I'd love to see his papers, wherever they may be!
Thanks
Jo

Hi Joanne,

The previous lady never followed through.
I still have the military records.
Send me a private message with your normal email addresss and I will send you the military records.
However, I think you need at least 3 postings on the website before you can send a private message.

Best regards
Tony
