Patrick Gibbons/Anne Conley Parents of Ellen Gibbons
« on: Thursday 27 January 11 15:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi All
Thanks to those who gave me info about William Moloney!
William married Ellen Gibbons in Wolverhampton!
I am now trying to find info on her parents.
Facts I have about Ellen:
Christened 9th April 1840
Kilcolman RC parish Kilmore
South Mayo
Father Patrick Gibbons
Mother Anne Conelly
Sponsor1 Patrick Conelly
Sponser2 Anne Slattery
I cannot find Patricks birth (one possible born in 1822) which would make him 18ys approx!
I cannot find anything about Anne Conelly,or any of the people named above.
Would anyone have any info about them,or have ideas where I could look?
Were underage pregnancys common?
Any help would be gratefully received!
Kind Regards
Bbuster

Baptism records for Kilcolman RC parish go back to 1835, so probably not far enough to include a birth for Patrick or the others mentioned. Marriages are included back to 1805

see : Kilcolman RC Parish  (Irish Times)

It might be worth trying a few of the neighbouring parishes in case their records go back a bit further.

To get an idea of the adjacent RC parishes you could check this map - RC Parishes - Co. Mayo (Irish Times)

Since there are marriages back to 1805 it would appear that The parish of Kilcolman was in existence back to that year at least, but it's possible records for baptisms were not kept at that time or have since been lost.

Hi,

Interestingly, I have a 2nd great grandmother, Margaret Gibbons, born in Ireland in about 1824. Her parents were Thomas Gibbons and Jennie Connolly (both born in Ireland). I suspect Margaret was born in Ireland, but I don't have proof.  Would you have any more information on the Gibbons and Connollys in your tree from the early 1800s?
