George SMITH, Eryrys
« on: Wednesday 22 December 10 22:32 GMT (UK) »
My great grandfather was George Smith, and he was born in Eryrys, Near Llanarmon about 1861. I believe that there are Smiths up there now and am sure that we are related. George was a lead miner and was married to Mary, and there were six siblings. In 1871, the census tells us that they lived in Glan y Llyn. Does this road still exist? George later left Eryrys and moved to the Rhosllannerchrugog area. He then became a coal miner.

My grandfather was George William Smith and he was born in Ponkey (now spelt Ponciau) near Wrexham in 1894.

Anyone got any clues about living relatives in the area? Would be very grateful.

Ray

There are Smiths in Eryrys and they are what we all know as a long standing family from the area.

Eryrys is a tiny village and I currently live about a mile from the centre I'd guess and our address is Eryrys. I know of a property called Glan Llyn but I can't think of a road named Glan Y Llyn I'm afraid.
