There is in 1901 a Frederick Ling in Fulham, confectioner's shopkeeper, who has a wife Mabel.
From freebmd, she might have been Mabel Jane Sayers (married 1900).

So quite possibly Giacomo and Eleanor worked with/for their brother in law?

Oh, nice find jorose!  :D

Blimey! I think you are on to something with this one.
Mabel Jane was an older sister of Eleanor, and a younger sister of my ancestor Caroline Wainwright (she had at least 7 sisters).

I always assumed the marriage for Mabel Jane was to Matthew M WALLACE on that page of the folio.  Again, not being able to view 1911 census records has left me in the dark a bit.

Do you suppose Frederick LING is the "Italian" that my ancestor Caroline mentions in her note about the box of Turkish Delight?  Or can we just assume Eleanor and her husband "helped" their brother in law with making it?
The family note is vague, but it mentions the sister who is married to the "Italian?" husband as the one who made the confectionery in their home.

Eleanor and Giacomo appeared to have lived in the Willesden area of Middlesex, London. The Sayers sisters were all from Fulham, so it's possible Mabel Jane lived there after marriage.

Wow, this has me more intrigued than ever. Can we find more about Frederick Ling and his family online I wonder??
This could be a new link to a family we knew nothing about!

Thanks HEAPS to everyone who has contributed to this thread. You are all fantastic.
Cheers,
J
p.s Thanks Prue for showing the 1891 census - I do have this and the others ( exclu. 1911) already (my ancestor Caroline isn't with the family in 1891 because she is a Domestic Servant elsewhere.)

*added later:  Just had a thought that the mention of the Italian husband has been a red herring, and probably my ancestors dau getting her aunts muddled up.  I think we can safely say Mabel Jane is the sister the note refers to. So nothing to do with Pelizzari at all.
Thanks again to everyone.

Thanks Valda,
that is all really solid info for Frederick. I've spent most of the afternoon at my local library searching Ancestry.com for him, and basically looks like I've found the same records - which means I'm on the right path  :)
Cheers,
J

This came through on Facebook Rootschat page and I looked because the name Ling is very much a Suffolk name, I have several friends researching this name. Then I see that you have found a link back to Suffolk and Norfolk.

Very interesting story  ;)

SM
Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?
