Hi Hammond

You have your grandfather Michael born in 1919 but have his parents James Shea (O Shea) married in 1951 - Are the dates correct?

.....more info

James O'Shea came to London sometime in 1920/30 and married an Ellen Hoolihan in 1937, St Pancras, London.

They had one daughter Mary Ellen Shea b 1938, St Pancras, London, d. 2008 Camden, London.

He also had two other sons, Patrick (Paddy) and William (Billy).  Still searching for info on these.

Sound familiar to anyone?

I think James, your Grandfather, is my great uncle.  My Grandfather was Patrick, or Garrigan as he was known. My father was Patrick Oshea, who sadly passed last year. He is survived by two brothers; Francis and Richard.

Thanks for getting in contact.
This certainly does sound like the correct family.  So your grandfathers mother was Ellen Shea? I have been working really hard on trying to find more out about her.
For Christmas I bought my mother a DNA ancestry testing kit and am hoping this helps a little.
Would be great to share info with you.

Hello Hammond,

Yes, thanks to a really helpful person on here i managed to trace back to Ellen Shea, I did end up going to far and finding an Ellen Shea with two sons, James and Patrick  , remarried to a James Fitzgerald but James Shea 's age didn't match up.
Sadly my father passed last year but my mum knows quite a bit about your grt Grandfather and Grandfather from what my dad has told her over the years.
I have an uncle Francis still alive and my mother is going to find out more when she sees him soon and also a cousin born in Carrick on Suir who may know quite a bit.
What's your name?
My mum thinks Michael had two daughters and she remembers a Billy, Paddy and Juju? But not sure if they are Michael's sons. How does that sound?

My name is Sarah, I am the daughter of Kathleen O'Shea (Michael's daughter). My mum has 7 siblings including Paddy and JuJu (who sadly passed a few years ago). Billy was Michael's half brother. James remarried and had several more children.
My mum remembers your O'Shea side well from when she was younger. My grandad Michael was very fond of all your family.
I also found the record showing Ellen as remarried, I was unsure if this was correct, but another family member seems to think it may be. I also found a record of James and Patrick (Garriagan) living with their grandfather.
James married an Annie Shea, with all the same surnames it makes life very difficult when searching!
