*COMPLETED - THANK YOU*Dunbar Family in St. Vigeans
« on: Saturday 12 February 11 14:03 GMT (UK) »
I have come to a road block in my research of Margaret Dunbar b. 1837 in St. Vigeans. Daughter of David Dunbar and Ann Salmond. I can find her in the 1901 census but have searched Scotlands People website and cannot find her death anywhere. Any suggestions would be helpful.

No. She had an illegitimate child, Henry, in 1860 with no father listed. Henry didn't live with her and at some point took his father's name. His father being Robert Graham, mason. As far as I can tell she lived with her brothers and sisters from the 1861 census on so I can only assume that her parents died early.

I found her will on the National Probate calendar on Ancestry.com leaving everything to her sister Jessie. I would think this must be her but what was she doing in England???

SP has a death for ann dunbar(other surname salmond) 1861 montrose angus
birth c1810
no way of knowing , without looking at the certificate , if her marriage surname
was dunbar or salmond

deceased online has ann dunbar buried on the 28th december 1860 montrose
old cemeteries montrose
perhaps her death was not registered until january 1861  :-\

I will check that one out on SP. Sounds like it could be Margaret's mother. I was thinking that maybe Margaret was living with a brother or sister in England. I will have to check that out. Thank you for your help. I thought I was stuck!!
