East Retford Cemetery

Does anyone know where I can get contact info for someone who has a list of burials in East Retford Cemetery or someone who can kindly take a photo of a grave for me? I have discovered that my great x 10 grandfather came from this area (Nottingham) and I would love to have a photo of his grave where he was buried in 1550. I did find an earlier topic on here from someone asking almost the same question in 2007 and someone replied with an email address and phone number but both of those are no longer valid. Thank you.

Sorry, meant to say, welcome to Rootschat!

It seems that East Retford has two cemeteries,

St Swithans and St Saviours.

West Retford has St Michaels, and the cemetery.

Retford comes under Nottinghamshire, so I would suggest you try the Nottingham archive, and ask them who has the burial maps.

It might also be worth trying the Bassetlaw Council site to see who is charge of grave yards for the area you want.

Thank you very much for the reply. I have contacted the first suggestion for Nottingham Archives and they cannot find anything within their area. I will try the second suggestion. Nottingham Archives did have one reference online to Hugh Childers' son, William, apparently being called to court by someone in 1587. I have emailed them asking how I can get a copy of this docment.
