I've been researching my family tree for more that 10 years and although I've had breaks from it, it's just always in the back of my mind. And today your email has prompted me to look at all the information again, so thank you for that!  Ok, lets go!

Death     John Renton.                  ( no mention of the middle name, Liddle, on this certificate )
             2nd March, 1926
             Butler
             Aged 46
At Dumfries Infirmary

Married to 1) Elizabeth McNab
                2) Grace Weir

Usual residence  ? Kewlands? or ?Newlands? Cottage, Kirkmahod_ _ _

Parents  John Renton, shoemaker, deceased
Margaret Renton, m s Liddle, deceased
Cause of death.   Cerebral Pneumonia 4 days
                          Peretonitis
Informant  Archibald Weir,  Glenbuck, Muirkirk

Do you want information on the 2 marriages?  And any farther back? I have details from the Old Parish Record of 1809 showing the baptism of John Liddle, father on Margaret Liddle. And mountains more!
Anne

Back to Lesley's original request for information on Jane Renton, she married a widower, George Renton, aged 60, on the 21st July, 1865, in Oldhamstocks. She is aged 35. Her parents are George Renton and Elizabeth Renton, ms Anderson, so she is a sister of Helen Renton, the person in my direct line. You may well have this information by now, Lesley. I'll have a look now and see if there are any children listed.  Anne

George Renton died on the 10th Dec 1874 in Oldhamstocks. Age given as 71 which doesn't quite match, but it is the correct person as wife listed as Jane Renton.
Between 1860 and 1874 there are 6 Renton births listed for Oldhamstock. Isabel in 1860, Helen in 1860, Mary in 1865, George H in 1866, John in 1871 and Robert in 1874. All or some of these could be George and Jane's children, but they could be children of sons of George's from his previous marriage. I hope so!
Hope this is of some use.
Anne

4th August, 1889, death of Jane Renton, (now wife of Thomas Robertson, ground gardener ) at W. Pinkerton, Dunbar. She was 58. Parents are correct - George Renton and Agnes (interchangeable with Elizabeth??) Renton, ms Anderson. Cause - heart disease, 6 months.  She's listed in the 1881 census as Jane Renton in Oldhamstocks, but by the time of her death she had remarried and moved to nearby Dunbar. Does this sound correct, Lesley?

Just spent the last 10 minutes writing up birth details here from OPRs then 'lost' it! Darts!!!

Just see a message above this box which says  "The following error or errors occurred while posting this message : The message body was left empty."

I'll send this as it is and if it goes through ok I'll continue and send the OPR birth info I tried to send in the first place !  Fingers crossed!
