Carmarthen Town, 1861 - EVANS
« on: Friday 25 February 11 16:34 GMT (UK) »
George EVANS was born in 1822 in Llandeilo Fawr but spent most of his life in Carmarthen. I have his address in 1851 and 1871, but cannot find him or any members of his family in 1861. Is part of the 1861 missing?

Hello  :)

Can you post some more details about his family and the census details for 1851 and 1871 please?

For 1861 there are some known issues in Carmarthenshire - Llandilofawr (Llandilo and Llandebie), St Clears, Conwil, but I believe Carmarthen town is there.

Kind Regards
Morgan

Sorry, my mistake; George EVANS lived in Llandeilo Fawr, not Carmarthen. In 1851, the family address was 'Bank, Llandeilo' HO107/2471 p42. The family comprised George (b 1822 Llandeilo), his wife Mary (b 1819 Llandybie), Walter (b 1845 Llandeilo), Anne (b 1845 Llandeilo), Henry (b 1849 Llandeilo) and Mary (b 1852 Llandeilo).
By 1874, George was living in Talley.
I have been unable to find any trace of the family in 1861

Unfortunately 1861 Llandilo town is missing entirely  :( and parts of Llandebie too.

1851 family are:

George Evans age 28
Mary Evans age 30
Henry R Evans age 1
Frances Evans age less than 1 Month
and visitor Mary James age 60

no sign of Walter or Anne.

Bank area was near Bank Buildings, Llandilo town (in Llandilo district 2m)
