Griffith Howell - New Moat
« on: Saturday 26 February 11 09:55 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone got baptism details (or anything else) for Griffith Howell, probably baptised in either New Moat or Henry's Moat between about 1720 and 1740?

Has anyone got baptism details (or anything else) for Griffith Howell, probably baptised in either New Moat or Henry's Moat between about 1720 and 1740?

Baptism for Henry's Moat start in 1813, Mrge in 1755 and burial in 1813, see ;

I believe New Moat begin in 1754 see above web site for fuller details.

Have you tried NLoW to see if any BT's survive?

Have you studied the Howel(l)(s) wills of Henrys and New Moat at http://cat.llgc.org.uk/cgi-bin/gw/chameleon?skin=profeb&lng=en

Many thanks Orielbenfro. Checking up on what you say, it does seem that there are no parish records for this period and no BTs.

Regarding the wills. Been there, seen it, done it. Without any baptism records I can't make any connection.

Many thanks. At least you have clarified my mind on this. I need to give up.

Don't give up  :( obtain a copy of "Village Records" by John West, this has a host of idea's of obscure records that are available, that might give you some idea of what else to search for.

Hi Omega 1. Yes, this baptism is of interest to me in that it provides Griffith Howell's occupation. Many thanks for that. It is much appreciated. Has anyone else got anything on Griffith? Marriage, burial, or other baptisms (particularly his son Benjamin, believed to have been born in New Moat about 1769

Sorry Omega 1. I got too excited when I read your entry. I didn't notice that you had also given the baptism date for Benjamin as well as John. So, as Benjamin provided my line of descent, I'm now even more grateful than I thought I was. I must concentrate more.

Many thanks. I really appreciate your help.

I know that Benjamin Howell married Ann (not necessarily in New Moat) and that he and his family moved to Robeston West some time between 1802 and 1804. I presume that Griffith and his wife (possibly Mary) remained and died in New Moat.

Anything you can let me have regarding the Howells in New Moat would be great.
