Ah.. I have just found a submitted entry on familysearch for Joseph Reading b. 1696 Waltham Abbey, Essex died Sept 1749.  Having read your attached blog, it has (VH  of Essex) next to the entry for Joseph Reading.  I wonder whether this may be your man, and not the chap in Kingston?  Ahhh.. I have also just found the submitted entry for  Mary Reading 1722, Hannah Reading 1732 Elizabeth Reading 1734 all at  Waltham Abbey Essex .  So it looks as if the Joseph Reading in Kingston may not be who you are looking for at all.  It looks much more probable that your Joseph is the chap from Waltham Abbey in Essex, born c. 1696- Bingo !
