'ANSON' prison hulk records
« on: Tuesday 01 March 11 06:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I Hope someone maybe able to shed some light on where to find records of my ancestor being on the "Anson" prison hulk which was in the Derwent River Hobart Tasmania from 1844.
I have seen no mention of my ancestor being on this hulk (as so many other convicts were) from all of the records in Tasmania   I only accidently found this record from Ancestry. com in their convict records with the reference Public Record Office HO 10139 page 207 (359) it states Mary Britcliffe Probation Anson arrived 1846 on the Emma Eugenia.  From her record in Tasmania it states Period of Gang Probation  6 months extended 2
months  No mention of the Anson though.
Now my question is how do I find where this record came from could it be part of the Joint Copying Project??   I've looked on the Public Records Office website and it just refers you to Ancestry. Where does this information come from??

Is there anyway of finding out more information on her probation whilst on the Anson (similar to her conduct record), do these records still exist??
If so where.  Any help would be very much appreciated kind regards Dianna
