Norma

I had a look through the Cemetery Record of Mortality for Rosebank (opened 1871) and couldn't find any record of Archibald Pringle, Margaret Rutherford, James Rutherford or Margaret Innes but then you said that Margaret may have been buried with her parents so I had a look at the records for the old burial ground which is next to the parish church

There is an MI for Margaret Innes -
MARGARET INNES died 30.12.1887 aged 78 years
MARGARET daughter died 17.11.1907 aged 74 years.

This was recorded sometime before the mid 1970's (no date on the documents).  Borders Family History Society recorded the burial ground in 1997 and resurveyed it in 2010 and didn't find this headstone, along with approx another 200 headstones.  In the late 70's, the walls which surrounded the burial ground were removed and paths were laid, leading from the new car park to the town centre.  Many stones were removed and there doesn't seem to be a record of what was taken away.  Some of the stones may have been buried under the new paths or under the grass.

The MI has the date as Nov but that may just be a reading error.

Hi Norma - I stumbled across this while doing some research on Archibal Pringle, Archibald Pringle died 17th May 1890 Irvine Ayr 63 years old. [Hawker] He is a direct great, great, great, great, great grandfather of mine. I seemed to have hit a wall with him and can't find out his parents ... I have a tree  on Ancestory.com if you're interested.... I have added the burial/death info you found out in this thread - very interesting indeed.

Karl

Margaret Rutherford his wife died 17th May 1907 Kelso 74 years old.

I need to know if I have been researching the correct Archibald. He was never home with his wife and family for any census and she was always Hawkers wife until 1891 when she was head of family.

I hope someone out there can send me all the names and dates on this headstone.

Thanks,   Normamac

Hi Karl,

Robert Pringle 1801 -1863 Dalry Aryshire and Margaret Brown or Broun 1803 -1864 .They married 7th July 1821 at Dalry ,Aryshire. That was his parents names on Archibalds death certificate.

They are buried in the Old Dalry Cemetery. Headstone 0591.Other family members are  buried in 0589 and 0590 .

Did you find Archibald Pringle in the 1881 census?

Can you tell me anything about James Rutherford born 1808 Roxburghshire? He is my brick wall. My only clue is that  their daughter Janet was bap. at Sprouston which may be a connection to Rutherfords from Sprouston. All the others bap. at Kelso. He died between 1846 and 1851.
