Help needed with German Ancestors

Hi,

I have some relatives who came from Birstein in Hesse, Germany. It has been suggested that I should contact the Hessen Archiv to find out where the parish records are kept for Birstein.

Two queries:
1. Has anyone had any luck with contacting them and did you use post or email (and what was the address)?
2. Can someone help with translating into German the following message.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to know where the parish registers are kept for Birstein as some of my ancestors came from there.

have you tried googling hessen archives germany i just tried it and the first site that comes up looks to be what you require to get you started

Yes I had found the details, but I was more interested in whether anyone has actually had any luck with contacting them and also what the German is for the message I want to send

Try Google Translate (click on More first).

That gives:

Thanks for the suggestion, however translating that back into English jumbles some of the words from the original.

Hello Mark,

the "Kirchenbücher" for Birstein are kept in the  "Zentralarchiv der Ev. Kirche in Hessen und Nassau".
