Hey Jane
According to the 1911 census John Henry Harber and Lily where living at 52 River Row, Pontnewynydd.
In the 1939 Register they are living at 8 George Street, Pontypool.

John Henry Harber and Lily had a total of 9 children together. My Great Grandmother being the second child.

Hi Sami

River Row, Afon Llwyd Terrace and Torfaen Terrace are three streets in Pontnewynydd. They all run parallel with each other. John Henry Harber and Charlotte Sayce, his sister, would have lived within 100 yards or so of each other. Thomas Perry would have died before his half sister and then half brother moved to the village. I imagine Lewis Sayce and John Henry worked at the same ironworks as Thomas Perry (my great grandfather).

Hi Sami,

Found the time to explore the Harber Family tree again. I'm still trying to work out who was my great grandfather's natural father. I'm thinking of taking a DNA test after this lockdown is over.

I was contacted by a distant relative recently (her great grandmother was the eldest sister to my great grandmother, Sarah Anne, who married Edward Thomas Perry aka Herbert, half brother of your great grandfather John Henry Harber/Herbert), which was great as she was able to send me a couple of photos of these ancestors.

I was wondering if you had any pics of your relatives, John Henry Harber and Lily, or your grandmother, that you might share. Always good to see if there are any family likenesses. Unfortunately I have very few pics of that side of the family.

My email address is (*)

Hope you are well.

Best wishes

Jane Morwood
