RENNARD on the ship 'Sophocles' completed

Hi can anyone help I have found my great Aunt Sarah Ann Rennard sailing on the ship 'Sophocles' London to Australia 6th December 1922. We were always told that she emigrated along with her husband Hartley Rennard. I have searched all 17 pages of the ships passengers but cannot find him. Could he have been one of the crew if so how could I find out, he was born 1870 ish on the census he is a general moulder so he would be in his late forties early fiftys when they emigrated . My father told me that Aunt Sarah came back home when he died.

Hi Jenn,
Thanks alot for all the information on Hartley. From your information it seems Hartley was only in Australia 7 month before he died. Sarah Ann his wife was our fathers aunt and he has always wondered what happened to them. When Sarah Ann came back to England in the early forties my father went to meet her when she docked. He has just told me that she actually went back to Australia as she couldnt settle so if you could possibly find her death that would be very helpful. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Jenn,
Only got half your reply up to Hartleys death, rest of info about Sarah appeared after I replied to you. Since then I have found Hartley Sarah and an adopted daughter Hilda sailed to Sydney 11th January 1913, so I presume the other record in 1922 must have been Sarah returning to Australia after a visit here. What a surprise even my father didnt know she had remarried or that she had an adopted daughter.   When she returned again in the 40s it must have been after the death of her second husband.  My father said that he always wondered why she returned to Australia again as he thought she had no family to return to but obviously she returned to be with her daughter.  It would be interesting to know if Hilda married and had any children. Thank you for all your help I have learnt alot today.
