Mod comment:
Sorry to be a pain but the links to the Prestbyterian Churches are not working. I have tried them on several different computers.
This is a very old post and may need a bit of extra research

We have just spent a week looking for rellies in Co Donegal on the Inishowen Peninsula.

We took lots of photos of headstones that may (or may not) be of family interest - the names are some we recognise and may find a connection later.

It occured to me that other Rootschatters may have a connection and like to use the photos.

You can find them on
http://picasaweb.google.com/lanlivery/UlsterHeadstones#

Good hunting

Ireland's Gravestone Index- pay site but search is free and can be quite useful (although there are some errors with people being listed twice in wrong parishes)

Hi,

One resource not mentioned above is The kirk Session Book of Burt it contains the following information: Baptisms 1676-1683, Marriages 1678-1715/16, Elders 1691, 1692, & 1698 a wealth of information on first and second generation Planters available almost nowhere else as far as I am aware.

The book is available free online in PDF format here: http://www.clanewing.org/research/KirkSessionBook/Rekirkbookintroduction.pdf

I am unsure as to why this valuable resource is not more wildly known (It is never mentioned in any of the genealogy source book lists or most websites for Ireland that I have read) I am also unsure as to where the original document can be found. It was transcribed by a Oliver D. Cresswell, Belfast, Ireland Dec 1995.

New website IrishGraveyards.ie has some Donegal graveyards surveyed (includes both inscription and photo)- location maps shows existing coverage and future surveys. Drop-down menu on search page lists names of graveyards. Keep checking for updates as new ones will be added.

Thanks, Wicklow Rose for posting the details.
