Vayro and Varo Research

It is allright for those of you fully familiar with how to make a posting, follow it up, and find a suitable forum section to post it on, but being new to the Rootschat system it has taken me a while to find the beginners section and find the section for posting a new topic. So well spotted members who pointed others to where my posting was referring to.

I have been researching VAYRO and VARO and derivatives for 28 years, and as a Guild of One Names Studies member try to find new avenues to explore contacts. I see Debbie Wilson is a member for Vayro and Jean for Varo. Debbie is a distant relative but Jean may be new. I have absolute proof of Varo and Vayro leading back to a William Vayro/Varo/Varah in 1810 Ellingstring N Yorks. I can prove 8 generations back to 1710, and have connections across the UK, Australia and Canada, with 2 public websites.

Some alternative examples of the surname are as follows:-

1748          VAUSO, Andrew of Sutton Parish
1755          VAURO, William of Elvington, December Probate
1767          VAYIO, Ann of Cloughton, Stansby Parish
1838          VAYNE, Mary baptised Tanfield July, daughter of John and Margaret
1841C        VAIO, William of Masham and sons William and Stephen
1861C        DAYERO or VAYERO William, Esther, 5 children and brother Stephen
                  (8 Green St Darlington)
1871C        VAGEO, William, wife Esther and 4 children (Yarm Lane Darlington)
1871C        VAYRE, Stephen and wife Bell (137 Brunton St Darlington)
1881C        VAYDS, William, wife Esther and daughter Esther
                  (5 Woodcock Square, Stanley cum Wrenthorpe, Wakefield)
1881C        VAYNOR, James (14) indoor farm servant
                  (Lupset, Alverthorpe Cum Thornes)
1901C        VAYNO, Rose domestic cook Nottingham

All proved to be linked to the Vayro family ancestry

I have just discovered that my 4 x great grandmother Mary Stott married William Vayroh at East Witton, Yorkshire in 1828. Her first husband David Walker of Ellingstring had died in 1825 leaving her with their 3 children. Mary and William Vayroh had 3 children; Willliam 1828, Mary 1830 and Stephen 1831 before she died in 1836. I understand William Vayroh is buried in Darlington. I don't know a vast amount about them yet but was struckk by the unusual name.

My Husband is also related to Mary Stott and I didn't know about her remarriage so thank you for posting the info. Do you know where Mary was buried?  I have some information on this family if you would like to exchange.

Mary is buried in Masham churchyard in the grave of her father James Stott and mother Elizabeth Nicholson and other family members. The grave is next to that of Elizabeth Stott's, previoulsy Archer, nee Nicholson's parents.

To find the grave if you stand in front of the church the grave is behind the church and a little to to left as you are looking from the front of the church

Can i assume the relationship to Mary Stott is with her husband David Walker ? (EDIT) This has been answered on the other (different) thread
