« on: Saturday 12 March 11 22:27 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the birth certificate of my Gt Gt grandfather Thomas Morris b. c 1847 in Cilrading Cardigan? (states in 1901 census) I cannot find where this is. Googling this I came across this forum from 2005 with a posting from 'Nutcase' who was also looking for the same person.

can anyone help with Cilrading?

Thanks Slitsgirl  :)

HI Possible
Cilrhedyn ( 1901 spelling Cilrading) Often welsh spellings were not correct. This is not in Cardiganshire but ib Carmarthenshire near
New castle -Emlyn which is on the boarder of Cardiganshire and Carmarthenshire.
A close possibility
hope this is of some help
cheeers cardiff ???
PS I noticed that in 1901 he was born 1850 yet iearlier he gives 1847 ???

given that he has a son called Enoch, there's this possible from 1851

Cwm, Kilrehedyn HO107/2482 folio 91 pg 3
Thomas Moris head mar 26 labourer b. Cilrhedyn
Jane wife 28 b. Trelech
Thomas son 4 b. Cilrhedyn
Enoch son 11 months b. Cilrhedyn

possible birth reg
Thomas Morris march qtr 1847 Newcastle Emlyn vol 26 pg 712
but can't see a birth reg for Enoch, so it could be Thomas wasn't registered either

This looks like same family in 1861
Glandafen Row, Llanelly RG9/4111 folio 84 pg 34
Thomas Morris head mar 35 labourer in foundry b. Kilrhedyn
Jane wife 35 b. Trelech
Thomas son 13 b. Trelech
Enoch son 10 b. Trelech
Naomi dau 7 b. Trelech
James son 1 b. Llanelly
Eleanor Thomas mother-in-law widow 65 shoemaker's widow b. Cardiganshire, Llanllwchaearn

birth reg
Naomi Morris march qtr 1854 Newcastle Emlyn vol 11b pg 17

marriage reg
Thomas Morris march qtr 1846 Newcastle in Emlyn vol 11b pg 819 with Jane Thomas on the same page

Do you have a birth certificate for any of the children of the Thomas from the 1901 census? This would confiurm mother's maiden name. Sarah Jane aged 12 in 1891 is visiting a James family on the 1881 census, I think, which makes this marriage reg a possibility
Thomas Morris sept qtr 1872 Llanelly vol 11a pg 1024 with Ann James on the same page.
